@ Ian: Whe...@ William: I will hit you up on email.

@ Ian: When Rios was at the plate in the 9th, I was hoping he'd take a walk. I wanted Wells to come up. I wanted him to make up for that strike out and blow the game open. The bases were loaded, after all. And he popped out to left. Like we knew he would. But there I was, praying for Rios to get on base so V-Dub could get another shot. I just can't quit the guy. It gives all of us bloggers a boost of hope.

How do you talk directly to someone on Twitter? I just started "tweeting" which goes to show that some old dogs can learn new tricksWilliam J. Also, if I was making that type of coin, I'd probably be smiling too, regardless of my .690 OPS. And while there's a picture of Wells' head next to each level, I imagine I can delete the GUARDED and LOW jpegs Ian was kind enough to make ...

As for what DGB & Meredith said, that's what I find so interesting about the whole thing. It's a tiny, meaningless shout-out, but a shout-out to a tiny, meaningless blog, nonetheless. A year or two ago, there's no way this happens; not in a national paper. In one week, Robert MacLeod links to Drunk Jays Fans in his blog, and Blair mentions my blog. Meredith's right: it shows that Blair and The Globe are ahead of the curve. They realize that if they want to survive, they have to acknowledge and, even better, interact with the blogosphere. It's simply too big to be ignored. And I'm 100% with Meredith on Blair. He's the best in Toronto, that's for sure.

And a lot of the interaction is thanks to Twitter. It lets bloggers "talk" to guys like Blair, and Jordan Bastian. Twitter lets them know we're here, and talking, and contributing, and, in the case of Alex Rios, even breaking news.

Fascinating times, for sure.Navin Vaswani (@eyebleaf)https://www.blogger.com/profile/08445618400360263938noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2432386330226362504.post-83217706624865953192009-06-09T01:35:50.666-04:002009-06-09T01:35:50.666-04:00Congrats on your mention in the Globe. It’s a huge...Congrats on your mention in the Globe. It’s a huge deal for you and a small, progressive step in the ongoing war between newspapers and the blogsphere.

The Sportsandthecity mention is just one reason why Jeff Blair will continue to thrive in the shrinking conventional journalist pool, with all the wacky Internet gadgets ruining careers and destroying mainstream media and what not. When Shoalts joined twitter, he found a fake Brian Burke account, started having conversations with (what he thought to be) the Leafs GM, and freaked out when he learned it wasn’t really Burke. It was shameful. Maybe he’s caught on to twitter now, but I wouldn’t know. Haven’t checked his account since.

Blair realizes that sports fans don’t stop reading at newspapers anymore. Most of us don’t even start there, unfortunately. Blair remains ahead of the curve and his coverage is only improved for it. I loves him.
