Progress!!!1

Your unlikeliest of heroes: Vesa Toskala and Jason Blake. I can only imagine exactly what was spoken.

Another win streak. (Yes, two games is most definitely a win streak.) A 7-2-1 record in their last 10 games, in which they've out-scored the opposition 34-29. For the first time over a 10-game stretch, the Maple Leafs are allowing less than three goals a game. Even after Saturday's Boston massacre. Progress. She's beautiful.

Toronto is as good as any other team in the league right now. The fact they still rank 29th in the league in points lets you know just how much they did not give a fuck in October.

Last night, by killing three out of four penalties, for a smooth 75% success rate, Ron Wilson's Leafs even improved their much-maligned penalty killing.

Everything's coming up aces.

Jason Blake and Vesa Toskala SMILING at one another.....IN THE SAME PICTURE!?!?!? These are heady times indeed.

PS: Your previous post with the "Who gives a fuck!?!?" in regard to the Argos was great. I don't usually do this but....
ROTFLMFAO!!!

So, let me get this straight.

I wasn't losing my mind. Vesa Toskala and Jason Blake strongly contributed to a Maple Leafs victory.

I thought I was going delusional.

Dare I say it..

I believe in.. Vesa Toskala?!

WHAT IS GOING ON.

Cel-e-brate good times, come on! Dude, even I can jump on the Jason Blake train if he starts putting the biscuit in the basket. A win tonight and we'll be jumping over 3 teams!

I believe only five points out of a playoff spot at the moment-don't quote me on that cuz I haven't actually looked...

I went to the Leafs' outdoor practice in Rosedale on Tuesday. I went in with a low opinion of Blake and throughout the practice, he did nothing to improve my opinion.

Then the practice ended. Everyone threw their pucks to fans and got the hell off the ice. Everyone, that is, except Mike Komisarek, Joey MacDonald and Jason Blake. (A few others stayed, but they were the last three.)

They reached a point where there was only one puck on the ice. Blake fired it at MacDonald and it went off his blocker and over the fence. Instead of skating away, Blake started yelling, "Throw it back, Throw it back!"

I know it's stupid, but watching them have fun like that started to win me over. When they got kicked off the ice so the little kids could take over, they made sure the puck went back to the guy who threw it back to them.

I believe in Joey MacDonald and Mike Komisarek, but that was never in doubt for me. The thing that surprises me is I can now say this:

I believe in Jason Blake.

@ Loosh: That picture blew my mind. And I'm glad you enjoyed that quote from Rios. We must never forget his eloquent ways.

@ psamms: If Toskala comes up big tonight, well, I don't know what the fuck is going to happen.

@ Hungry: Blake's still on pace for 50 points, believe it or not. And you put it best: "I BELIEVE IN VESA TOSKALA??/"

@ Mattt: You are correct, good sir. Three after tonight. And I'm calling Kessel to score, I think, 7 goals tonight. Going to be ridiculous.

@ infieldfly: Great story. Blake's definitely less of a douchebag than most Leafs fans think he is. He's had an interesting tenure in Toronto; it's stories like that that can only help his legacy.

Anyone else sense the growing friendship between Grabs and Blake?

Leafs in the playoffs? Just as delicious as the upcoming feast on Dec.25! Thinking of family, wouldn't it be nuts if the Jays, Leafs, and the Raptors all found a way into the playoffs in the same year...hmmmmm...it needs to happen!!

Hi. I found you thru Wrap Around Curl. I'm batting my eyelashes at you. That means we should definitely trade links. Don't hold my Bruins love against me. =]

Thank goodness (he says ironically) that no one ever bats their eyelashes at me on my blog. Ah youth...

Eyeb, Write a baseball piece once in a while so I have something to comment on. I should "discover" hockey but it's just not in me.

@ aapd: They're two tiny little punks and even to be effective with their teammates, they have to be annoying.

@ On The Fence: The Jays, Leafs and Raptors all in the playoffs. In the same year. Sounds more like fiction to me.

@ around the way: Batting eyelashes works everytime.

@ William: Funny, I think I said "Ah youth" myself just the other day. I'm getting up there, my man. And I can't write much about the Jays right now. It's far too depressing. Once Doc gets traded ...

If they all did make the playoffs, wouldn't that be insane. Out of the three, the Jays have almost a 0% of making it within the next few years.

Back to the Leafs.
13 games. 26 points.

The Leafs have 18 of those points.

Progress...
