Debauchery

If you don't know, now you know...

Vernon Wells, my hero, batted four times last night. Each time he walked up to the plate, I was on my feet, showering him with love and adulation, and urging those around me to do the same. For one night, Vernon Wells was loved. For one night, the Vernon Wells Hatred Advisory System was put away.

Two young Blue Jays fans, about three rows down from me, are today converts to the Church of Vernon Wells. Thanks to my exploits, they believe.

Vernon Wells heard me last night. There's no doubt about it.

And, on an aside, what the hell has happened to our Roy Halladay? My heart weeps.

We did wait until the end of the game for the picture. Everytime V-Dub came up, I was on my feet, encouraging the crowd to cheer on our $20 million dollar man. A couple of kids, over the course of the night, became ardent believers of Vernon Wells. An old man about seven rows up wanted nothing to do with us. There was was a good mix of hatred and pity.

I love Vernon Wells. I will stand by him through this most difficult time.

And shoutouts to my boy "Hungry Leafs Fan," who actually bought me a Vernon Wells baseball card. That's serious business. It's in my wallet, and shall remain there.

Go Jays, and Leafs, Go.

You gotta get down to the first row so it can be right in camera's sight haha.

Delicious Irony:

The sentence 'I Love Vernon Wells' was DIRECTLY across from 'The Vernon Wells Hatred Advisory System' when I read this post.

I admire your strength and determination, brother.

I think next time just in case, you should put a VWHAS on the back of the sign if Vernon plays poorly.

this makes me happy! I was glued to the feed to try to see you, but they never showed ya :(

I too had my eyes pealed for you, although I thought I remember you saying you would be in a Leafs Jersey.

Regardless sorry the game didn't work out as well as it should. That many runs + Halladay should = victory.

Real nice gesture on your part, dude. Admirable.

I would post a longer comment, but unfortunately, last night's game never really happened. Got it? NEVER. HAPPENED.

Oh he heard you alright. He heard you and rewarded you with a nice 0 - 3 night.

He sucks.

Doc got victmized by a bunch of seeing eye singles and bloop hits in the first. Hendrick, the first base coach, seemed to be laughing at the ridiculous crap the Rays were getting on base with.

Give the Rays credit, though, they fouled off a lot of pitches and generally made Doc work. I thought Doc pitched about as well as a guy giving up 8 runs can pitch.

Jays had the rookie on the ropes early, just couldn't land the knockout blow..

Haha I saw you from few sections over in 525. One of the girls with us got a big kick out of it (she's from Germany and it was her first baseball game ever actually)

Eyebleaf, I salute your passion towards doing all you can do to help the Jays win. I honestly believe if there were more like you the Jays would be doing much better. Keep fighting the good fight.

It was awesome hanging out with you last night. You made me a believer...well less of a doubter.

P.S. that was the most epic 0 for 3 performance of Wells' career.

@ Anon: I find your lack of faith in Vernon Wells disturbing.

@ Showcase: I thought about that. But decided to stay true to the language.

@ Moneypuck: It sucks for Vernon that I am poor. I'd love for him to see that sign.

@ Archi: That is ironic. And rather delicious.

@ Ian: Respect, bro. It had to be done. Although I didn't get on TV, and didn't even make the JumboTron. FAIL. But I represented, nonetheless. And, again, crazy love for the VWHAS pictures. You're a wonderful human being.

@ Schultzy: Blast your Rays!!1

@ Johnny: The jersey was a casualty of trying to get the sign done and make the game in time after work. And, you're right: just an awful, awful game. Can't remember the last time I saw Roy get hit like that.

@ The Ack: What game? And welcome to Twitter, bro. Everyone, follow The Ack: http://www.twitter.com/theack

@ The Squid: It's easy to boo, my friend. It's easy to hate. That's not how I roll. Believe in Vernon Wells, for Vernon Wells will rise.

@ 25th: Of all the Vernon Wells haters, you bother me the most. You own his jersey, for Christ's sake. Like I said, it's easy to hate. Let the love in, bro.

@ The Squid: It's amazing how many "bitch hits" teams get against Doc. I hate "bitch hits."

@ SL: Off year. That's it, that's all.

@ Dave: Not sure how you found the blog, but thank you for your comment. It made last night's exploits completely worthwhile. Go Jays.

@ Mattt: Thanks dude. The good fight is the one I shall continue to fight.

@ Furcifer: Way to start the "Let's go Vernon!1" chant. I won't forget it. And that walk by Wells was EPIC.

eye's undying optimism is truly contagious. He should be serving a bigger cause such as protesting for world peace. How can you deny this man?!

"22 Million Dollars, Baby!!"

It was an honour to be there with you, bro. Not everybody agrees with the love for Vernon Wells but, like the guy 6 rows behind us, they definitely recognize and appreciate "the right attitude" when they see it. Cheers, eh.

Navin Vaswani (@eyebleaf) said...

@ Hungry: I'm like a disease, yo.

@ General: It's all about the right attitude. It's what gets you through the darkest hours. Cheers.

I loved how people tried to correct you on the contract terms of Vernon Wells. I'm not sure if the crowd knew you were being serious or sarcastic. Little do they know, optimism for the Jays is serious business.

And ladies, pictures don't do eyebleaf justice. He's stunning in person, seek him out. Wear a Wells shirt.
