A Simpler Time

I love that picture. It represents what the Toronto Blue Jays were meant to be. It's hard to believe so much has changed in only one calendar year.

I'm exhausted from talking about Alex Rios. And J.P. Ricciardi.

I'm depressed after reading this:

"Roy Halladay, while making clear that he has enough to worry about without deciphering messages from ownership or management, said he was not at all surprised once word got out that Rios was on waivers. (There is a sense of detachment to Halladay that was not previously noticeable.)"
- Jeff Blair, Tale of Two Teams

This team will, as The Ack pointed out, crush your soul.

Yet here I am, wanting nothing more than for Ricky Romero to beat A.J. Burnett this afternoon.

Go Jays.

"exhausted", "depressed", "crush your soul" and you won't let me dump them?

I had a pretty happy life till you made me drink your baseball kool-aid.

Go Jays (and I heart Romero)

I hate the new Yankee Stadium for hundreds of reasons, most especially the home run funnel. "Quirk of design"? I'm calling bullshit.

I hope they are up 9-0 in game 5 of the ALDS against the Red Sox, and then 'HUUUGHES!!!!1' coughs up 7 home runs, and 'RIVERA = siiiiick' gets tagged for another 4. Just so they can lose 9-11 to Boston. 'OMFG; JOBAAAAAH... JEEEETTAAAH?!?!? WTF LOLCAT!'

Or, to quote an article I recently read on the internet: "Really, I hate that team, their fans and everything about them. Fuck them all with Rock Hudson’s rotted, AIDS infested cock."

That sums it up nicely.

p.s. I also support Romero, Carlson, and the rest of the straight-brim brigade. Bringing it back like Cracker Jack.

I don't think it's possible for any true fan to ever give up on his/her team no matter what happens...

Doc is demoralized because he knows the end is nigh, so to speak. They are breaking down the team BUT Doc remains while Rios goes to a contender and he stays. AS I've said , it's so obvious that they are rebuilding it's not even silly. When they dangled Halladay's name out there and got such a backlash...that was a clear sign of keeping Doc........for now.

Eye, I want to be optimistic but at this point I can't be. The saving grace of this is that Snider will come up , a new GM and Pres is on the horizon and the kid pitchers will develop. Keeping wells will be difficult though. Unless they eat 80 percent (or more) of that contract there is no way they get rid of Wells. So Wells will be an albatross on a team with Lind, Snider and Hill being the core. That will be very sad indeed........

Death by Leafs: Two teams from the same division can't play each other in the division series.

Also, go Romero. Go Jays!!!1

They could have at least made a play for Bartolo Colon's buffet card from Denny's. Fire J.P.

@ Schultzy: The Jays are brutal, another soul-crushing 1-run loss today, but I'm still glad you found baseball. (Fuck the DEVIL Rays.)

@ Death By Leafs: I hate the new Yankee Stadium more, after today. That quote does sum it up rather nicely, and I hope your scenario goes down in the ALCS. While I'm down with Ricky Romero, I'm not down with Carlson. He needs to figure his shit out for next year. And I don't quite understand why Accardo's going down to Vegas, while Carlson remains with the big club. Well, I do understand, b/c of the need for a lefty in the pen, but that doesn't mean I'm not going to fucking complain about it.

@ Mattt: I think it's definitely possible. It's just assholes who end up doing that.

@ Woefully: Yeah, it does certainly seem like the Halladay Blue Jays chapter is coming to a sad conclusion. No happy ending, which breaks my heart. As for Wells, he will rise again. He will not be the albatross.

@ The Ack: I said that a few times this afternoon. Oh, Vernon. My heart weeps.

@ Chemmy: We'll take the ALCS. Down with both Evil Empires.

@ SL: Fire Rogers, you mean. Not J.P.

Chemmy - I could pretend it was just a typo and I meant 'CS, or that I just forgot it isn't seeded simply as 1-4, 2-3.

Honestly, when was the last time the Jays had a good, all-around team that actually did something in the AL East? It's such a powerhouse division....

Funny how life works out. Rolen wanted to go home, got his wish and was clunked only a few days later. Now he has dizzy spells. I did see where Rolen went in to talk to LaRussa, meaning that he is the far bigger man of the two.

One of my favorite writers, Joe Posnanski skewered Ricciardi recently. Rob Neyer pointed it out on ESPN and backed Ricciardi up...slightly. The guy sure is getting more attention than any other GM with the exception of Minaya and it's hard to figure out why.

@ BronxBomber: Uhhh, 1992, and 1993. Back-to-back, son.

@ William: That's what Rolen gets for asking for a trade. That's karma, Kramer.

And I saw that JoePos article. I commented all over it. I also saw Neyer's article. Neyer gets it. One of the two comments he grabbed from the Pos piece was mine. Of course, he didn't link to my twitter page, or my blog, b/c the main stream media still doesn't get it.
