Today, September 8th, is an auspicious day. Not only is it my brother's 30th birthday (dirty thirty!!1), it's also the release date of the 2009/2010 Maple Leafs Annual - a magazine chronicling your favourite team, written by some of the finest Maple Leafs bloggers out there.
For some reason Alec Brownscombe, editor of the annual and one of the writers at the heavily trafficked Maple Leafs Hot Stove, asked me to be involved in the project. I readily agreed, and typed an essay entitled: Infinite Hope.
Looking back upon the last 20 years of my life as a Leafs fan, I wrote about those players and those teams that best personified hope; and why the well of hope, even after many trying years of heartbreaking losing, never runs day.
It was an honour and a pleasure to be involved in a writing collaboration with some of the heavyweights of the Maple Leafs' blogosphere Barilkosphere. You can find the magazine on newsstands today; at your local Walmart, your local grocery store, your local drug store, and at all Chapters Indigo stores throughout Canada.
Pick up a copy. It's 128-pages of Toronto Maple Leafs content, penned by those who write only to feed their passion. You won't be disappointed.

I bought the mag yesterday and I must say that it is easily the best peice of Maple Leafs print I have ever read. Kudos on a job well done and I hope there is one every year.
of COURSE your piece is about endless hope and unwavering passion. Frankly, I would have been disappointed if it wasn't.
PLAYOFFS!!1
Hey, kudos dude.
Though I don't give a shit about the Leafs (sorry?...but that's actually being polite about it), it's great to hear your talents (& those of your fellow leafs bloggers) getting some exposure.
So, yeah. Congrats and best of luck with this.
(Hawerchuk > Gilmour)
COngrats dude, I got my copy on the weekend. Looks very very good. Haven't read it all yet but excited to read it.
Awesome that you're involved in the mag. I'm hopeful too that this years version of the Leafs are going to at least be significantly better than previous years...
PLAYOFFS!!!1 and CONGRATZ!!!!1
I searched for it at a Chapters on Friday but did not see it... will have to check back later this week for sure.
Way to be pimpin' that mag, my lad. You're a rudey and I can say that anybody who reads your piece won't be disappointed. You sir, are a literary rudey.
@ Matt Roberts: I think anyone who contributed to the mag would be happy to read you say that.
@ Schultzy: I've been typecast.
@ The Ack: Respect, bro. I think I could write the exact same piece for the Jays. Been a rough go for us. And I'm going to conveniently ignore that Hawerchuk comment.
@ Leafer: It's pretty big, when you think about it. I'm looking forward to getting through all of mine as well.
@ Mattt: The Leafs are making the playoffs!!!1
@ Winkle: Respect, dude. I hit up Chapters/Indigo this afternoon, and picked up a copy. It really wasn't an elaborate hoax pulled off by Alec.
@ Junior: Can't wait read your piece. And I think we all aspire to be literary rudeys. Thanks for the kind words, mate.
Picked up a copy on Friday but haven't got through the whole thing yet. Couldn't think of a better person to pen an article on hope. I'm trying to read it as slow as possible (reserved for the commute to work) only because I don't want it to end! You boys did a bang up job on the mag. Hope it really does become an annual thing.
@ Hungry: That solid commuting material. You're a rudey. Let me know what you think of my piece.
Infinite Hope was a great piece of writing, eyebleaf. I agree - you could write the same thing for the Jays right now, or the Argos, and in a couple years maybe the Raptors - such is the life of a sports fan in the Big Smoke!!!
I stopped at the local Beckers on the way to the bar for smokes and picked it up. My buddy spilled some beer on one of the corners of a page and I had to hip toss him through a table, thats how much I love this mag.
Very nice, my friend! I have yet to read it but congrats on being included. I hope you have your own personal copy bronzed and in a display case somewhere.
