No ...

I don't like this.

Eight innings pitched; three hits and two earned runs allowed; one walk; nine strikeouts; and a no-hitter into the 7th.

"Everyone in the world thinks about it ... I'm not going to lie and say I wasn't. I had good movement on everything. It just wasn't meant to be."
       - Allan James Burnett

"A.J. really stepped up ... We needed a big performance out of someone with a short bullpen, and A.J. likes that."
       - Joe Girardi

No. I don't like this one bit. Hit the disabled list already, Allan James ...

He looked like his arm was about to fall off in the 7th. He throws two pitches. Curveballs to lefties. Fastballs to Righties. Once someone pointed out this pattern to the Rays, they started hitting him.

When that curve is on, it's one of the best in the business. That's what makes Burnett so dominant, and allows him to rack up the Ks. I think I read somewhere last season that guys were hitting his fastball at almost a .300 clip, but couldn't touch his curve.

I'm not angry that he left. I would have done the same, and taken the money. But that doesn't mean I wish him well. I'd love for him to hit that disabled list and make the Yankees suffer.

Basically, I want to see less of Burnett and more of Nick Swisher on the mound for those Yankee bastards.

Aside from his frigtening gauntness, AJ is fun to watch. More so than CC and other assorted Yankee swine. I hope he does well in some of his starts.

Agreed, Drew. You're right; if he beats up on the DEVIL Rays, that's cool with me. If he springs that nasty curve on the Blue Jays, I will be mighty peeved. I can't wait until our boys face him.

I'd like to think that a promising start followed by habitual stays on the disabled list is actually preferential to straight sucking.

Eventually, the raging meth addiction will affect his pitching.

S'93: You make a good point. He's teasing the Yankee faithful right now. This may turn out even better, yet...

The Ack: Meth's a helluva drug...

eyebleaf, you must be watching tonight's ball game. Is this early season success simply the power of Cito. Wow, Gibby really was kind of a strange character though; did he have a speech impediment or something? I could never understand what he was saying in interviews. Either way probably the best move J.P. was ever FORCED to make.

Loosh: These guys just continue to rake. And home runs. So many home runs. It's fun to watch. And how about Aaron Hill? What a hero.

You know, I liked Gibby. I loved his southern drawl. For some reason, the guys just couldn't hit last season. I blame Gary Denbo. All Blue Jays fans hate Gary Denbo.

And I still don't believe JP was forced to hire Cito. I will maintain that stance. In the grand scheme of things, it doesn't matter; I'm just glad Cito's back.

Doesn't it just go to show you that when you have faith in the players you draft there is a certain sentiment developed in the clubhouse that really brings out the best in their ability. To hell with over priced free agents, this is something that this club has needed for a long time and I hope the boys keep it up cause' it sure is fun!

Agreed, I'm feeling the mix we've got right now. Youth in guys like Snider, Lind, and Hill; experienced guys like Rios and Overbay; and solid veterans in Rolen, Wells, Barajas and Scoots.

Even on the mound. The ultimate in professionalism and execution, in Doc, and kids like Ricky Romero, Purcey, Litsch who can learn from him. And our 'pen, good mix as well. Carlson and League, experience in Frasor and Tallett, and veteran savvy in The Beej and Downs.

Sick team. Another 16 hits.

And Richmond. Fuck, what a start from him. We've got two of three, and sending Doc out tomorrow. Could be another huge three out of four set.

It's still early, Allen James will fall back to earth as the season goes on. Either he'll just get crushed or he'll get hurt. COUNT ON IT.

Also, did you hear his comments about Roy? He credits Roy for last season and his start this season.

All hail Doc Halladay. The greatest pitcher I have ever seen.
