I didn't go to the game. I didn't even watch it. Last night, for the first time, I saw Roy Halladay dominate a box score. Inning by inning, strikeout after strikeout. In the end, another complete game shutout.
And it won't be the last at the SkyDome. I believe Roy Halladay will be a Toronto Blue Jay in 2010.
For some inexplicable reason, I have faith in the plan Paul Beeston is shortly due to unveil. I know; I have no reason to. I know absolutely nothing about it. Nobody does. Yet I remain unhinged. Rumours of a $120 million dollar payroll were enough to make me believe that will indeed be the case. Like George Costanza said: "Jerry, just remember, it's not a lie if you believe it."
Pat Gillick as president? Again, I know, the franchise shouldn't continue delving back into the past. It's not a healthy way to live. But I'm all over it. If I've learned anything over the years as a Blue Jays and Maple Leafs fan, it's that my nostalgia quota can never be filled.

payroll of 120 million sounds sexy - but i'll believe it when i see it. We need a shortstop if Vespa is gone. Id like to resign Overbay and get rid of Millar. I think Snider makes a good left fielder and just an awful right fielder... so who to get to fill that void?
We have alot of unaswered questions coming our way after the season is done... but in my opinion, we need a stud in right field and we need a freakn closer!!!!
Speaking of sexy, nine innings, seven hits, no walks, no runs, nine strikeouts. What a pitcher!
Keep the faith Jays fans. There will be a plan that moves this franchise to it's deserved place in the playoffs. Don't give up...
Trade Halladay.
$120mil? LOL. Not happening.
Start over with a new plan. 5year thing that JP made didn't work. Start over. We have the parts we need to start over, just have to develop them.
Snider, Lind, Hill, Wells (don't say anything), Marcum, and McGowan.
Like I always say, if your team sucks and has no hope (aka Pirates), just go out and enjoy the game of baseball.
I don't know how many times someone has to see it to believe it, but the 5-year plan is not of JP's doing. How Godfrey gets away with this, I do not know. I clearly need his publicists.
@ Aqua: Scutaro will re-sign. Overbay has 1 year left on his current deal, and Millar is dead to me. Dead to all of us. I still don't have any issues with an outfield of Lind, Wells and Snider. And I've got no problem with Downs and Frasor closing. A bullpen committee, especially to fill the closer spot, is the way to go.
@ William: It's the zero walks that really turn me on.
@ On The Fence: The Jays don't need to start over. Just retool. There's a big difference. And, please, don't compare the Jays to the Pirates.
@ BK: We all need Godfrey's publicists.
I'm just doing the best I can to enjoy the enjoyable parts and not get committed to any expectations (logical or not) that are going to leave me frustrated.
George Costanza pretty much picks up where Homer Simpson leaves off, and if you feel you can't live your life based the statements of those two characters, you're probably making things too complex. Good call Eyeb.
So bring it on, Rogers. I'm ready for it all ...

How the heck does it do that?
