Opening Day

"There are three things in my life which I really love: God, my family, and baseball. The only problem - once baseball season starts, I change the order around a bit."
- Al Gallagher

As you can see, Vernon Wells is ready to start the season. His exasperated-after-another-strikeout pose is already in mid-season form.

I'm ready, too, for regular season baseball that doesn't involve the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox. Or Neil Diamond, for that matter.

When Cito leads the boys into battle one final time this afternoon, deep in the heart of Texas, a new era will have officially dawned on the Toronto Blue Jays.

A toast: to new beginnings.

Game one of 162. Enjoy. And remember: Playoffs!!1

Boo-ya. Let's go.

(although any term containing "boo" is probably inappropriate in the context of Vernon Wells)

I love that quote. I have also notified my family and friends that they will not be seeing or hearing from me very much between now and October.

Baseball is back, baby!

I feel justified in my trade for V-dub. At least for one day. 2-0 Jays!

I don't think I could have scripted Wells' first at-bat any better.

How about Doc today? Not too shabby.

I'm not saying anything about Toronto's starter...

Ok I jinxed it. Still, great job by Marcum.

Wow. From a no-no to a tie-game. For shame. Marcum's been great.

eye, now do you regret coming back from India,no!?? THe weinie down here in NYC Mike Francesa can't stop saying how they'll lose 100 games this year. I know they be bad BUT do they have to tease with near no-hitters only to have Frsor f%^&k everything up?

Can't blame Frasor on this one because he shouldn't have been in the game. If Overbay or Buck are PH for by Ruiz we have a shot at extending the inning and having a lead of more than 1 run.

I had no problem with Overbay staying in there to face Oliver. Ruiz for Buck I would have liked to see.

FREE RANDY RUIZ!!1

Optimism aside, this team needs to dig deep and develop character to persevere in the face of adversity. The offence was great, V-dub and Lind-Tron seriously got it done. The pitching has to buckle down though cause' it's a kick in the balls when they crumble under middling pressure. Marcum obviously had a no-hitter going but when he gave up that hit I knew he was rattled, if not more by the "should have been" strikeout the batter previous. That third base ump should have a cup of joe before tomorrows game....that was a strike out plain and simple. Open your eyes, do your fucking job. Either way that's when our pitching staff needs to step-up; how our batters did, like men.

I feel you, Loosh, but you've got to admit, that home run to make it 3-3 was some next shit. It was a half-swing, and looked like a fly ball. Next thing you know, it's a ballgame. Even the hit off Frasor to tie the game at 4s was a tough pitch. It just wasn't our day. Tough loss. Especially for Frasor. But I've got faith in him, he'll rebound. Let's just hope the offence continues, especially V-Dub. We need him more than ever this season.

I couldn't believe that left the park....ridiculous.
