Full House

No, your eyes are not deceiving you. Those are real, actual people who filled Tropicana Field down in St. Petersburg this afternoon, to watch their beloved Tampa Bay Devil Rays defeat the Chicago White Sox 6-4 in game one of their American League Divisional Series.

Rays fans. 36,041 of them. At one game! They're not unicorns. They do exist. Who knew?

Needless to say, attendance records in Tampa were obliterated today. 36,041 fans is about 532 more than the Rays saw in their first nine years of existence. Well done, Rays fans, well done.

A full house at the Trop. Can't say I ever thought I'd live to see that one.

A winning team in a meaningful playoff game will always bring out the "fans".

I am genuinely happy for the Rays and their success. It kind of gets boring to see the Red Sox/Yankees at the top of the AL East.

Maybe the Orioles will conquer the AL East in 2009! A few guys turning into the 1996 version of Brady Anderson might bring an AL East banner to Baltimore.

I think the last time that Tropicana Field saw a Full House, was when John Stamos threw out the first pitch for "Olsen Twins night" **** (an event that never acutally happened, but comically makes sense!)

@ Fantasy: I feel like Rays fans should have been out in stronger numbers all season long. They were the class of the AL East all year, and the fans should have been there. But, you're right, it's the first time for them at the dance, and here's to them having a good time.

@ Ian: I would so attend Olsen Twins night. Great fucking idea.

The first 10,000 fans at Olsen Twins night get their choice of some imitation cocaine, or an anorexic Olsen Twins doll.

Ian, you need to get in touch with the Rays' marketing department. This has "great success" written all over it.

The mind blowing range of replica watches available today makes the selection of a fake watches thoroughly confusing and at times enticing.
