Deep Thoughts: The Leafs are the Bruins' Bitches

If there was any doubt that Brian Burke and the Toronto Maple Leafs need to re-sign Martin Gerber, there shouldn't be anymore, not after last night ...

Justin Pogge's .844 save percentage is downright pathetic.  Small sample size be damned. Drafted in 2004, Pogge is still not ready for prime time, and I'm truly beginning to wonder if he ever will be. How he performs for the Toronto Marlies in the playoffs (!!!!1) is going to say a lot about him. The pressure is on ...

The Boston Bruins took five of six from the Leafs this season. I hate the Bs. Especially Milan Lucic. And by "especially Milan Lucic" I mean I'd love to see him in the blue and white ...

The Bruins have allowed 95 fewer goals than the Leafs this season. Ninety-five! Sure, they're the best team in the Eastern Conference, but that's fucked up ...

The Leafs' 271 goals allowed is worst in the NHL. Other than the forever pathetic Atlanta Thrashers, who have allowed 262, no team comes close to that number ...

Some good news: Alex Ponikarovsky scored his career-high 22nd and 23rd goals of the season last night, and Niklas Hagman hit the 20-goal mark with the 100th goal of his career. Both of them are rudeys. My Poni-love post is coming down the pipe. Stay tuned ...

Mikhail Grabovski's Mickey Grabs' personal March Madness (two more assists last night; 14 points in March) has been HUGE for my fantasy hockey team ...

Toronto's won only 14 games at home this season. Only the hapless Tampa Bay Lightning have won fewer games on home ice. For shame ...

Is there a better camera shot than of Brian Burke with his binos, watching Luke Schenn pummel Steve Montador? Burke is boss. Literally ...

You know what really breaks my heart? The fact that the Paul Maurice led Carolina Hurricanes are going to make the playoffs (!!!!1). That's some bullshit ...

After this, another, clusterfuck of a season, I will never again take good goaltending and solid penalty killing for granted. I promise ...

Oh god, Justin is an even bigger slut than ToskaLOL. That was truly awful to watch. For a guy his size he sure doesn't know how to fill the net. Bad defense can only be blamed for so much. .844....., Jesus that's officially a B+ on the report card. HAHA! Troy Glaus on DL....who woulda thunk it!? What a useless douche.

Out of 271 goals against this year, 27 have been against Pogge in 7 games. That does not bode well. The fact that the sample size is small actually scares me a bit more, not less. Did you think that you would see the Leafs plating solid hockey under Gerber and see it fall apart when he was suspended when they picked him up? I'm sure everyone did.........

We talked about this last night, but I will say it again. I expect better. Perhaps Pogs isn't cut out for the NHL. I don't think it's too much to ask to hold him to a .900 saves and a 2.5 gaa minimum. I am tired of the excuses. He has had NUMEROUS chances. None of this "oh 7/8 of all those goals were bad." No. He needs to be fucking better.

And honestly, before the Vesa was out injured, I was really pleased with his turn around performance. He was rescuing his dire numbers.

LooshV: Pogge is pretty slutty. And you're right, for a guy his size, he's frighteningly small in the net.

Anthony: You make a good point. In less than a month, Gerber has become one of the main cats Burke needs to sign for next season. That's messed.

Scott: I'm used to the depression. But I, too, am dying a slow death.

Wrap: .900 is the fucking bare minimum. Here's hoping The Vesa bounces back next season. With a good goalie, we can make the PLAYOFFS!!!!1

Jared: I understand your completely misplaced faith. Totally.

Tank Tank Tank....Pogge Sucks....Tank Tank Tank

Bhatti, doesn't the whole Pogge problem conflict with the tanking? Like, eventually we want to get better right, and this guy's supposedly the future in the crease. So, does that mean we draft a goalie?

The way I see it, we're fucked, again. JFJ traded the wrong prospect. Shoulda traded Pogge for Raycrap.

Here's hoping Vesa, that bastard, bounces back.

Too bad there is no goalie projected in the 1st round....or i would say YES, draft another goalie, we need a goalie above all else, who knows, what can Burkee do....i am glad i dont have to deal with leafs mess..

2 2nd round picks. 1 of them could be Olivier Roy, or Mike Lee. Why worry about one not being projected in the first round? That's a good thing because we can steal him in the second. Don't like those options? The Erie Otters have undrafted goalie Jaroslav Janus who helped Slovakia upset USA at the WJC and we could get him in the 3rd or 4th. Don't like him either? Let's go over to Sweden in the SEL where Jonas Gustavsson just broke Henrik Lundqvist's shutout record and he's a UFA (free pick outside of the draft)

In:

8 playoff games

5 shutouts

.980 SV %

0.48 GAA

He's only 24.

Take your pick for more security for the Leafs between the pipes.
