Was that meaningful baseball?

Because it sure as hell felt like it.

More than 43,000 vocal fans in the building; incessant heckling of Allan James Burnett; a three-for-four night from the man we believe in: Scott Rolen; another home run by Aaron Hill; and a complete game five-hitter, in which he didn't walk a batter, from Harry Leroy Halladay III.

"[Burnett's] the enemy now. We're not rooting for him." - J.P. Ricciardi

Amen, wise general manager. Amen.

A.J. pitched a half-decent game.

Doc was better. He was, well, Doc; sublime. And there was never really any doubt that he would be.

This Blue Jays team is for real. They're also winning the pennant.

UPDATE: Burnett's walk of shame, courtesy my CrackBerry ...

UPDATE #2: I'm still swooning over Doc. Somebody please kick my ass the day I stop appreciating him, and what he does out on the mound.

From today's New York Times: "In his last 19 starts against the Yankees, dating to May 22, 2003, Halladay is 13-2 with a 2.09 E.R.A."

Giggity.

Scotty Richmond, tonight. Do your thing, Canada. ("Canada" is Richmond's new nickname. At least it should be.)

What a feeling that game left me with! The elation, the natural high of winning. Scott Rolen, what a stud. And I swear Aaron Hill set A.J. up 0 and 2 knowing that he would try to fan him out with high heat. What a fuckin' hitter, WOW. Just as Jamie Campbell was musing about how the Jays hadn't hit a home run all game. The proverbial cherry I tell you.

That was meaningful, what a game. This city finally has something worth cheering for.

@ Loosh: Rolen was most studly yesterday. And Hill's home run was insult to injury. We all knew that game was over; Hill just made sure A.J. didn't go the distance. Beauty.

@ Wrap: Pure exclamation police. I love it.

@ Bhatti-boy: Dude, don't be a douchebag. Doc was pitching, which means you know I was there. Are you fully aboard the bandwagon yet, or are you just hanging on at the back right now, wavering?

Scott: Our fine city represented last night. There were more people in the stands yesterday than at Canada/USA at the WBC. Fuckin eh!!!!1

I was actually heartbroken at the fact that I could not be at the game at live.

You were THAT CLOSE for the game? Very nice, you witnessed history in the making.

@ 25th: Your priorities are all fucked up. Higher Education is watching Doc do his thing. Ask A.J. Burnett all about higher education; he got it last night.

@ Pubina: It's like we're dreaming, man.

@ DeeIsGayizzle: Speaking of "da da da...da da da," did you see Timberlake on Sportscenter? That dude is unreal. I openly have a man-crush on him. So gay. Check it: JT is kind of awesome@ Ian: My boy hooked up crazy seats; premium dugout, please!!!1 A.J. heard me all game.

I'm an ignoramus when it comes to baseball, but it seems wise to reserve judgement on this team until they've played a series or two against the bosox. Nevertheless, I can't help feeling excited.

It would be wise, definitely. But screw it--a good fan base supports the team through thick and thin. You gotta believe we can beat Boston.
And who knows about injuries? Boston sports teams of the past year (Tom Brady, Kevin Garnett...) sure do.

"when we come back, i'll tell you my fav sports movie, here's a hint, it's Caddyshack"....just awesome....if it were only a man crush.

Magic Number: 128. Pennant!!!1

@ Pal: There's something about this team. The city's feeling it, already. The Jays have two more against the Yankees, then four against Chicago, and three against Boston. Then it's Interleague action. Huge games. May is going to be tough, but it's going well so far. Knock on wood. And don't stop believing.

@ deeisgayizzle: The best was about Lebron: "He just ... lights me up!!" I have a man crush on Justin Timberlake. I can say it loud, and proud.

@ Furcifer: You, my friend, are a genius. I tweeted (ugh) about the magic number. Cheers, mate.
